Athabasca River Classic Canoe Trip
Description:  Paddle a canoe on the incredible Athabasca River near the Hamlet of Fort Assiniboine (1.5 hrs Northwest of Edmonton, AB). Make sure to bring a camera, as on this trip you will likely see an abundance of wildlife in some of Alberta's remote wilderness. Using a Canoe as your vehicle, stop and play on the beautiful cliffs and sand bars along the way.  In warm weather we may enjoy a swim at Walleye point and if time allows, we can top off the trip with a scenic visit to Historic Fort Assiniboine and enjoy a treat at the unforgettable Marty's Cafe.

Customize your Canoe Trip:
 
Half Day - (2 - 4 hours on the river) We'll start our adventure at Williams Flats and paddle past islands and stunning cliffs for the first hour, then stop for a break and a chance to swim, climb, and hike at Walleye Point.  From here, we will continue our journey past Goose Creek, some islands, and pause to admire or climb, the magnificent Holmes Crossing Sand Cliffs.  Arriving at the Bridge near Fort Assiniboine marks the end of the trip.  Adults - $50, Teens(12-15yrs) - $40, Children(6-11yrs) - $25, under 5yrs - free. 
 
Medium Day Trip - (4 - 6 hours on the river) We'll start our adventure at Williams Flats and paddle past islands and stunning cliffs for the first hour, then stop for a break and a chance to swim, climb, and hike at Walleye Point.  From here, we will continue our journey past Goose Creek, a few islands, the magnificent Holmes Crossing Sand Cliffs, and then paddle under the bridge near Fort Assiniboine. Our guides will teach some basic and necessary river maneuvers in order to navigate a few riffles and deep water channels as we approach the Hamlet of Fort Assiniboine. The group will decide if we continue to our take out spot, or pause along the river and walk up to see the "World's Largest Wagon wheel" and stop in at Marty's Expresso Cafe for a sweet treat or special coffee.  We will return to the river and complete the short paddle downstream to our take out point just past the Big Island.  Adults - $65, Teens(12-15yrs) - $45, Dates: We offer this trip from May to September, weekdays and weekends, depending on availability of instructors and any other courses offered.  Please call us to look at dates that will work for your group.  780-305-6921Children(6-11yrs) - $30, under 5yrs - free with understanding that it's a fair bit of time for very young children on this trip so not recommended.

Full Day Trip - (5-8 hrs on the river)  We'll put in at Meunier's Flats and paddle through the scenic Athabasca River Valley towards Cartright Sny.  A brief stop here may produce a good size Walleye or Pike for the ambitious angler.  Two hours of paddling will place us at Devil's Elbow for lunch - an exceptional stopping point with rock bars, sand bars, animal tracks, and side channels to explore.  From here, our group will carve a path downstream to Walleye Point for another break, then on to the Holmes Crossing Sand Cliffs and our take out place at the Bridge.  This trip has breathtaking scenery and numerous locations to stop and enjoy the river.  Adults - $85, Teens(12-15yrs) - $60, Children (6-11yrs) - $40, under 5yrs not recommended for this longer trip.
 
- Group rates available for 10 or more participants
-  All fees include insurance, certified instructors, canoes, paddles, and PFD's.  Individuals are encouraged to bring personal PFD's, paddles, fishing equipment, and fishing license.
-  PFD's must be worn at all times when in Canoes.
-  You will receive an email after your purchase and as the trip draws near with a required/recommended packing list, along with suggestions for packing lunch and snacks. 
-  Transportation to our meeting place near Fort Assiniboine is Not provided or included in the price, so please plan accordingly.
 
**Full refunds are available for cancellations 30 days or more from the trip start date. With cancellations less than 30 days prior to the start of the course all monies are non-refundable and non-transferable. These policies reflect the fact that we do not overbook and canceled spaces are very difficult to fill at the last minute.
